Note: The changes I made are so many that maybe some little errors related to translation and/or the building of the modification notes can be present so please tell me if you find any. Also, if you want to propose something else, please be aware that I do not have a lot of free time and that at any moment, I could be gone for a while for whatever reasons (I do not intend to be rude with this comment, feel free to speak yourself). If anyone wants to help, it will be truly appreciated.

Patcher to retrieve the translation function for all browsers modified --> https://www.mediafire.com/file/4ma2f6n9vs0soh4/trans_patch.7z/file

Usage:

- Inside the "trans_patch.7z" there is a "trans_patch" folder. Extract it.
- Copy and paste the folder in the same place the browser executable file is.
- After that, enter the folder and execute "trans-patch.bat".
- A command-line interface will show up. Depending on the browser you are trying to apply the patches a small question will be promted on CMD. If everything goes correctly the program will show you at the end "Press any key to continue". Press any key, open the browser and check if the translation function was restored.

After all that you can delete the "trans_patch" folder.

It should work without errors. If anything else happens tell me.

These have been of great use. However, there is an issue with setting 360chrome as default which kinda irks me.

Yes, I had to delete all files related to that setting because I don't know what kind of stuff could be injected to the OS. I think this tool can help --> https://www.mediafire.com/file/lqrmazdh2fvrrrq/dbrowser_1_8.zip/file

I admit I've never tried setting 360Chrome as "default".

I propose that having a "default" browser is actually a "security risk".

My XP setups keep IE8 as the "default" but then I disable IE8 from launching by renaming the FILE C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EX_ and then create a FOLDER C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE so that the Operating System cannot recreate the FILE.

Hello.

Kudos for the MiniBrowser mod. I'm actually using it here as a second browser next to Firefox 91 on Vista with Extended Kernel, as vanilla Chromium at present can't save tab sessions or install extensions. This is strikingly close to stock Chromium. There's no extensions blacklist, unlike 360 either. Does this browser still work under Windows XP and Server 2003?

Thanks

Edit

Been testing your 360 repack as well. Seems there is no internal extensions blacklist here, either. Furthermore, my compliments for stripping the browser of all its junk. That newtabs, in particular. Just as a heads up, though. 360 Extreme Explorer actually has a pretty decent themes engine. There are even some themes that can style it to look closer to vanilla, or Chrome 40.x or so. I would caution using an adblocker like uBo before visiting the page, however:

It is nice to hear that you are using it (the MiniBrowser). Forgive my ignorance, but what is that extensions blacklist function that you mention? :?: . And yes, MiniBrowser works on XP 32-bits only (don't know about Server 2003 though, but it should work), unfortunately it is very heavy for older hardware, my old Dell Inspiron 600m laptop can't handle it :( .

Regarding 360EE, the original new tab was horrible, hundreds of connections just by entering the browser (it was a hot mess). I think I had nightmares because of that.

The 360EE theme manager is very efficient, it is faster than using the default theme manager in a normal Chromium build, but as it is a page from the company that developed the browser one can't just trust it to much. Extensions can't block connections requested by the internal code of the browser, so I really don't know what happens when you are using the theme manager. I'm not saying this to scare you (it should be pretty save as you only download a theme package and that's it) but to let you know that what truly happens there (aside from the download of the theme package) it is out of my knowledge.

Cheers.

Ah. Right you are, this is something I hadn't considered regarding the themes. I would like to assume the themes contain nothing malicious, but that is a mystery that requires furrther investigation. No cause for alarm at all, I was only testing the browser and tasked it with no sensative information

As for the internal blacklist I speak of. I remember back around v69 of the ru repack, certain extensions, notably Stylus, would refuse to install by normal means via Chrome Webstore. I'd get a security error in Chinese, though I can't recall in verbatim what it said. I'd have to use a website to download the crx file, then unpack and sideload it via developer mode in-browser. This worked, but it was a bit tedius. I'm not sure when such a blacklist was dropped, if it were a blacklist at all, but it seems to a thing of the past now. I just wasn't sure if you had a hand in that or not. I considered it could have been a certificate error of some sort that was isolated to older versions of Windows, but Windows 7 exhibited the same problem.

In any event, I'm just happy it's gone :call_me:
