Since the Win10 sub-forum was empty and my Win7 versus Vista Extended Kernel became a dead end.
Toshiba Satellite L875 with an i3-2370M @ 2.40 GHz with 8.0 GB DDR3 @ 665 MHz.
My Win7 Enterprise x64 has the following Geekbench 5 scores -
single-core score = 484 (same score on second run)
crypto score = 52 (same score on second run)
integer score = 498 (same score on second run)
floating point score = 524 (same score on second run)
multi-core score = 1090 (1092 on second run)
crypto score = 118 (same score on second run)
integer score = 1138 (1142 on second run)
floating point score = 1148 (1147 on second run)
My Win10 LTSB 2016 x64 has the following Geekbench 5 scores -
single-core score = 479 (478 on second run)
crypto score = 52 (same score on second run)
integer score = 494 (492 on second run)
floating point score = 519 (517 on second run)
multi-core score = 1067 (1068 on second run)
crypto score = 118 (same score on second run)
integer score = 1105 (1108 on second run)
floating point score = 1144 (1140 on second run)
Win7 "slightly" better (as I pretty much always suspected).
Admittedly the scores were much closer than I expected.

That's about the margin I would expect between the two. How about giving Cinebench R15 and Passmark Performance Test a spin too?

Re: Geekbench 5 scores for Win10 vs Win7
I also ran BootRacer to time bootup time -
Win10 = 93 seconds +/- 2
Win7 = 42 seconds +/- 2
WinXP = 31 seconds +/- 2
I tried a Passmark downloaded program but it would not show results without an internet connection, I haven't searched for hardware drivers until I know which OS will end up on the two laptops.
I saw Cinebech something-or-other listed on one of the sites I was on but have not tried that one as of yet.

These will work on Windows 7. Beware though, R20 is extremely taxing on the CPU. It´s like a mini stress test. Perhaps stick to just running R15 on this device.

Re: Geekbench 5 scores for Win10 vs Win7
Just tried R15 in XP x64 and it pops up a "not a valid app" error.
Probably works in VistaEX and in 7, haven't gotten that far.
Did hope for a quantitative benchmark that works in all three.

In that case, I would get the older Passmark Performance Test 9. It supports XP, and I've used it on Vista just recently.ArcticFoxie wrote: ↑29 Mar 2022, 10:37 Just tried R15 in XP x64 and it pops up a "not a valid app" error.

You could try Cinebench 11.5, too:

Re: Geekbench 5 scores for Win10 vs Win7
Cinebench 11.5 results on Toshiba Satellite L875 with an i3-2370M @ 2.40 GHz with 8.0 GB DDR3 @ 665 MHz.
XP x64
CPU = 2.33 pts
VistaEX
CPU = 2.32 pts
Win 7
CPU = 2.33 pts
Win 10
CPU = 2.31 pts
All within an assumed margin-of-error.
I guess I was assuming there would be a noticeable difference.
Seems the best route is "look-and-feel" which puts Vista as the absolute "worst" in my opinion - to each their own.
