Re: Windows Vista with Extended Kernel (Current Version is v26102021)
Well, I guess that's my shortest "experiment" ever.
Abandoning.
Geekbench 5 works in 7 so I assumed that it would work in Vista "extended kernel" -- it does not.
Geekbench 2.4 woks in XP so I assumed that it would work in Vista "extended kernel" -- it does not.

Interesting, I didn't realize Geekbench 5 supported 7. I assumed 8.1 would work, but their own landing page only lists Windows 10. What is the exact build if you don't mind my asking?
Also. I assume 2.4 is x86 (non amd64)? The kernel is very... Interesting with 32-bit software.

Re: Windows Vista with Extended Kernel (Current Version is v26102021)
Win 7 Enterprise SP1 -- ZERO updates past SP1 (I don't "waste my time" with updates and disable Windows Updates).
I have been looking into "simplix update pack" (I think that's the name of it), but have not messed with it yet.
Well, I can't say "zero", I do slipstream IE11 - but then disable it by renaming the .exe and creating a folder with the original .exe's name.
I've always slipstreamed my own XP discs (but only once per year or so) but 7 and 10 have always been limited to VirtualBox VMs.
The BEST DAY OF MY LIFE was when XP went EOL and I *no longer* had to update my slipstreamed installation disc!
I also do *not* use "POS" updates!
This works PERFECT for me, but "most" people tend to 'disagree' with this approach (that will not change my views, lol).
It's only because of the "modern web" that has me moving away (possibly) from XP to 7 (since Vista "extended kernel" kinda failed for me the very first program I even attempted to install on it).

Re: Windows Vista with Extended Kernel (Current Version is v26102021)
I guess this kinda rules it out for me, to be honest.
I'm not really looking for a "hobbyist" OS (sounds like "extended kernel" is basically a "hobbyist" OS like flavor-of-the-month Linux or ReactOS).
It's just extremely unfortunate that the "modern web" creates such a mess.

I'll have to respectfully agree to disagree there. ReactOS is Disaster Saturday, the Extended Kernel is more in camp "Release Candidate". Although from the platform you're coming from, I too would be rather keen on *everything* functioning, granted even 7 will run into some compatibility snags these days.

Re: Windows Vista with Extended Kernel (Current Version is v26102021)
I tried GeekBench 5.4.4 just now. The benchmark ran without issues, but it couldn't connect to the server, presumably because I haven't enabled TLS 1.1/1.2 for IE/WinHTTP.
But I noticed that it delay loads several functions that were revised/fixed as part of a yet-to-be-released update. Those likely caused other issues that may have occurred.

Re: Windows Vista with Extended Kernel (Current Version is v26102021)
Ah, noted.
I do not have internet access on my test-case laptop, so I need a quantitative benchmark that does not require internet.
Have not tried Cinebench R15 yet.
I'm delayed at the moment in that the test-case Vista Extended Kernel is the "ultimate" version from Post #1.
It includes a lot of "bloat" (my opinion, I know). Things like "gadgets". Don't recall if "defender" is in Vista.
I'm experimenting with vLite at the moment.
My history is only with nLite, RT7, and WinReducerEX.
Once I get my non-ultimate Vista "optimized" without all the "bloat", then I'll revisit "extended kernel".

Re: Windows Vista with Extended Kernel (Current Version is v26102021)
Thank you so much for posting this, it helped me a lot since I was struggling to add extended kernel for my vista installation.
